Stick a fork in me.....I'm Done!!!!!

WOW!  Is this really it?  Are we really done???  What an amazing experience to journey through early childhood issues and trends and end with so many visions for the future.  There are at least three major learnings that have been deeply felt throughout this program, including the important role early childhood plays in the future of our evolving global society.  As early childhood educators, we are positioned in society to influence the architecture of our youngest brains, to influence the economy, to influence the future engagement of families and to influence the development of a diversity as strength perspective.

The demographics of our society are changing and will impact the lives of our children even more than our own. It is our responsibility to encourage inclusive practices that strengthen our programs and initiatives. Through our actions we can promote a positive view of diversity and engage a myriad of families towards trusting children as self directed learners.

The James Heckman Equation http://heckmanequation.org/. This multi-disciplinary perspective will be crucial for acknowledging the importance of early childhood in the recovery of the United Sates economy.  With the MANY issues our current government is sorting through, I feel like there is slight momentum towards accepting early learning as a realistic answer to our economic recovery.  I look forward to advocating for this issue and moving past the cliche attitude that children are our future and moving that view towards effective action in policy.

Brain architecture!!!!  Enough Said!!!!  I am inspired by the responsibility and experience of shaping the brain architecture of our youngest learners through research based practices and family engagement.
