Family Culture

Week 2
If I was asked to adapt to a new family culture and take only three items with me they would be: the rings on my fingers, a small collection of song lyrics, and my journal.  The rings are symbols that represent my bond with important people in my life; they represent the eternal connection that I have and will have with both of them no matter what changes in my environment occur.  The song lyrics I have collected since my husband and I met in highschool.  We have written down lyrics to songs that have reminded us of each other and the goals for our family over the past 15 years.  My journal is a personal item that allows me to sort and organize my thoughts.  I use it to reflect and learn from my personal experiences and it is crucial for my personal growth.
If I could only choose one item it would be my journal.  I really could get rid of any of the three items.  No matter what family culture we moved to, our "lense" of the world would continue to evolve in it's new environment, growing stronger through the experience.

  1. Sweet.....I take it that the journal is your means of sanity. the one thing that i couldn't do without is my bible. it keeps me grounded and with it there is no obstacle i can't overcome.
